The Transformative Power of Traditional Yoga: A Holistic Approach to Health and Wellness

"The traditions of yoga are a gift that have been passed down from generation to generation. They offer us a path to inner peace and a way to connect with our true nature."

- Judith Hanson Lasater

The ancient art of yoga has been practiced for thousands of years, and has been known to bring about a sense of calmness and serenity to its practitioners. The traditional yoga sessions are a complete package of various practices that work in unison to bring about a harmonious balance between the mind, body and soul.

The session begins with chanting, which sets the tone for the entire practice. The sound of the chants resonates within, creating a meditative atmosphere. It is followed by shat kriya, which is a set of cleansing practices that purify the body, allowing it to function at its optimum level.

The next practice is pranayama, which involves the regulation of the breath. This practice helps to calm the mind, increases the lung capacity, and improves overall health. The asanas, or yoga postures, are the physical aspect of the practice. These postures are designed to stretch and strengthen the muscles, increase flexibility and balance, and create an overall sense of well-being.

After a series of physical postures, the practice moves to relaxation, where the body and mind are allowed to rest and rejuvenate. The session ends with meditation, which is the ultimate goal of yoga - to achieve a sense of inner peace and calmness.

Regular practice of these traditional yoga practices helps the practitioner to become proficient in the physical movements. Once the physical aspect is mastered, the attention gets drawn inwards towards self-experience. The class progressively increases in difficulty as the students become more aware of their body and breath.

Traditional yoga emphasizes postures and breath because most postures have been created by yogis - perfected beings. Following the traditional format helps us to reach inwards into the truth within us, and to be comfortable and relaxed in our true nature.

As we move through the practices of traditional yoga, we begin to feel a sense of transformation within ourselves. The mind becomes clearer, the body becomes stronger, and the soul becomes more connected. It is a journey of self-discovery, where we uncover our true potential, and realize the infinite possibilities that lie within us.

Traditional yoga practices offer a holistic approach to health and wellness. It is a practice that has stood the test of time, and continues to bring about positive change in the lives of those who practice it. By following the traditional format, we are able to tap into the wisdom and knowledge of the ancient yogis, and experience the transformation that comes from the practice of yoga.
